David Kariuki has led an extensive career in both the creative field and the corporate world with 14 years of account management and technical recruitment background. Having worked with his peers in the past on creative projects such as 'Unsigned Stars' in 2010 - a musical talent showcase that was aimed at providing opportunities to young musical creatives, David was tasked with negotiation, organisational duties, and also finding talent such as Rapper Stormzy (the first winner).
Being bold and able to speak to people from all walks of life. Approaching others with no fear, complete relatability, empathy and confidence, he has had no problem with being able to cause others to see their innate self-worth, capabilities and characteristics from his teenage years. This reflected in his life at university, where he went on to secure an internship at Barclays as a Service Manager in the technical team and has been exceptional at speaking to candidates and clients in the recruitment world (being the highest performing delivery consultant at Consol Partners in 2016). He has helped to train other recruiters and people in being able to engage in lucrative and productive dialogue.
Having grown up in a single-parent household with two siblings, he has worked hard to overcome the difficulties of not having both parents in the home. Socio-economic drawbacks frequently caused those who had similar backgrounds to resort to less desirable ways of making money, but he wanted to make a change from his circumstances for his family and peers to look up to as an example of perseverance, faith and self-belief. He has gone on to speak and perform at events such as The Found Brunch (a faith-based Christian charity and brunch), Thinking Out Loud Podcast (Covering Grief), and Make it Common Podcast (Talking about overcoming pain and loss).
He has spent an extensive amount of time working with young people alongside corporate professionals, with those coming from troubled backgrounds. Part of his passion is wanting to see others walk into their purpose and away from what would harm or stagnate them in life, connections, purpose or otherwise. He has served in his Church in the Drama Department, always ensuring that his faith is at the forefront of everything he does and says. He delivers keynote speeches ranging from 20 minutes to having whole day workshops with the aim of liberating people from negative self-talk, social stigma, bad ideologies, trauma and their relationship to pain.
