Dave 'Boy' Green

The first British boxer to win the European light-welterweight title, Dave Boy Green competed between 1974 and 1981 and amassed both the British and European light-welterweight title as well as the European welterweight champion title. A sportsman that made history in British boxing, Dave Green is one of the most inspiring and influential after dinner speakers who makes it his sole mission to leave audiences feeling empowered to make incredible lifestyle and mentality changes.

Throughout his education, Dave focused his interests into football and cross country running. He turned his attention to boxing in 1967 when he joined Chatteris Amateur Boxing Club and competed in more than 100 amateur contests. Having won more than 80% of his youth matches, he turned professional in 1974 and began training alongside Andy Smith before making his debut later that year. With him being successful in his first 15 matches, Green secured himself an opportunity to win the British light-welterweight title only two years into his career.

Out of a total of 41 matches in which he has competed in, Dave has won 29 of them by knockout and eight by decision and has only four losses to his name. With some of his greatest achievements including winning 22 straight games such as the European light-welterweight title game against Jean-Baptiste Piedvache and the WBC welterweight title match against former champion John H. Stracey, Green has established himself as a prolific British boxer.

Following on from his retirement from boxing in Dave has gone onto become a businessman who was awarded MBE in 2011 for his services to boxing and charity. In memory of his manager and good friend, Andy Smith, he took part in a charity golf tournament in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK in 2013 whilst holding the position of chairman of Renoak Limited.
