Former English boxer turned professional wrestler, Anthony Ogogo competed within the middleweight division as a professional boxer for a total of four years. As one of the most talked-about and prized fighters in Britain, Anthony can make a large impact on any audience at events of conferences whilst also providing an insightful and educational speech that can revolve around anything from achieving peak performance to the history of British boxing. An adolescent with a keen interest in sports, Ogogo was initially more interested in football and played for a variety of community courses set up by Norwich City.
With the club striking an interested in his natural sportsmanship, Anthony completed a trial with them and eventually began playing for their youth team. Boxing wise, he began training at the young age of 12 and therefore managed to build up an incredible skill set that took him to compete at the 2004 Junior Olympics in Texas. A holder of a gold medal by the age of 16, it became apparent very early on that he had a huge amount of potential in the boxing career.
With some of his greatest achievements including winning a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and representing Team GB at the 2012 London Olympics where he secured a bronze medal as an amateur, Anthony’s mental resilience and dedication to boxing became admirable to people internationally. He finally became a professional boxer in late 2012 after his Olympic performance attracted the attention of promotional companies including Golden Boy Promotions who signed him. After competing in 12 fights and almost keeping a clean slate with only one loss to his name, Ogogo’s career came to a halt when he became registered blind in 2017 after fracturing his eye socket in a match against Cunningham. With huge hesitation and a remaining desire to become a world champion, he was forced to retire at the age of 30.
Since then his passion for sports and determination has taken him to begin a professional career in wrestling. After making his debut in 2019 for the World Association of Wrestling, he worked with the legendary Cody Rhodes to contribute to his YouTube series, The Road to Double or Nothing, which sheds light on the stories of AEW fighters.
He eventually signed for All Elite Wrestling in October 2019. Having also ventured into a career within the media, Ogogo has made appearances on TV shows including Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack, BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Haunted Mansion and most recently, Bear Grylls’ The Island and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. After establishing himself as one of the most iconic fighters in the UK, he has also gone onto become a household name amongst those who have little to no interest in sports. An inspiring sporting figure, Anthony Ogogo can influence and captivate even the largest audiences at corporate events and functions with his insightful and entertaining career anecdotes as well as motivating them with his incredible drive and determination to become successful.
