Darren Maddy was a prolific cricketer for his counties, plying his trade for initially Leicestershire CC before moving onto Warwickshire in 2007 after 17 years’ service for his home county. Maddy has been capped at International level, playing 3 Tests, 4 T20s and 8 ODIs in his brief England career. His impressive County career has seen him win a multitude of accolades and team honours; Maddy still competes within first-class county cricket and is now an accomplished after dinner speaker and cricket Speaker.
With his International career a brief one during 1998-2000, Maddy found himself able to devote all his efforts into his county side, helping Leicestershire with the Twenty20 Championships in both 2004 and 2006. Winning Leicester Mercury Sportsman Of The Year during 2004 cemented his superiority within County cricket, and reinforced his status as a feared rival during the T20 format.
A phenomenal career for Leicestershire came to an end in 2007 when Darren opted to move to Warwickshire, later awarded the captaincy of his new side. In conjunction with his move, his International debut was awarded- during the T20 world cup in South Africa.
