Daniel Silke is best known for his role as Director of Political Futures Consultancy and is one of the world’s leading political and economic analysts. An expert in his field, he has been called on by broadcasters around the world for comment. Daniel holds two Masters degrees from the University of Cape Town in International Relations/Political Science and International and South African Politics. He later worked at the university’s Institute for the Study of Public Policy for five years, acting as a tutor and lecturer. Daniel has also acted as a member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament and as a City Councillor for Cape Town, as well as serving on the Portfolio Committee as the Chair of Economic Development.
After his career in politics, Daniel launched the Political Futures Consultancy where he is Director, allowing him to pursue a career as an economic and political analyst. His meticulous research and expertise have seen him become a go-to for the media working with broadcasters in his native South Africa and further afield such as the BBC, Sky Australia, and The Sunday Times (Johannesburg). He also shares his expertise as a Visiting Lecturer, formerly working for Robert Morris University, Lynn University and St Mary’s University. In 2011 he wrote Tracking the Future: Top Trends that will Shape South Africa and the world and since 2013 has been a Global Political Trend and Risk Consultant for GLG consultancy offering his expertise to over 1,400 worldwide corporations.
Providing lectures and keynote addresses for over 15 years to a variety of audiences such as the World Travel Forum and the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants in Sydney, he is an experienced speaker.
