Daniel Cuthbert is an internationally renowned cyber security leader known as the Global Head of Cyber Security Research at Santander. After obtaining a master's degree in Information Security from the University of Westminster, when cyber security was still an emerging topic, he began working as a Security Researcher at ABN AMRO Bank. During this role, he was part of the team researching global penetration testing, gaining hands-on experience. Soon after, he joined Corsaire as a Principal Consultant, where he worked with the business's top clients, such as the banking sector, the gambling sector and FTSE 100 firms. In addition, he developed a training course on the secure development of life cycles, increasing his leadership skills. Daniel later joined Sensepost as an Assessment Manager, followed by progressing to Chief Operating Officer in 2012.
Daniel developed his career to become the Global Head of Cyber Security Research at Banco Santander in 2017, where he leads the research direction for cyber security technology platforms. From evaluating emerging threats, advancing defence strategies and shaping the long-term research, his role covers a range of responsibilities. Daniel also serves as an Advisory Board Member at the Sentinel Foundation and, from 2025, as an Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute.
Continuing to share his insight, he co-authored the 'OWASP Application Security Verification Standard', and he has shaped the industry best practice worldwide.
