Leading chef and restaurant owner, Clare Smyth is one of the most awarded chefs in the industry. She is the owner and co-founder of Core, establishing herself as the first and only female chef to run a restaurant with three Michelin-stars in the UK. Former Chef Patron at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Clare had the opportunity to train at some of the most celebrated kitchens in the world. Some of the number of restaurants she trained at includes Michelin House, The Waterside Inn, Gidleigh Park and St. Enodoc Hotel, moving up through the ranks to become Sous Chef and then Head Chef.
It was in 2002 that Gordon Ramsay offered Clare a post at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and in 2004 was announced as the new Head Chef, becoming the first female chef in the UK to run a restaurant with three Michelin stars. However, after a while she moved onto to another venture at Alain Ducasse’s Le Louis XV restaurant, before returning to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant once again. In 2017, Clare opened up her first restaurant Core which has accumulated a great success rate, along with a number of awards. Furthermore, Clare has become a regular on a variety of shows such as Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen, and is now a very well-known and highly respected individual. Named the Good Food Guide's National Chef of the Year, Smyth has gone on to win a number of awards for her work.
For example, she was awarded a perfect 10 by the Good Food Guide and was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to the hospitality and food industry, as well as winning the Cateys Chef of the Year Award 2016 and Michelin Female Chef 2017.
