Producer and director, Chadden Hunter has spent his career devoted to some of the best-known documentaries on modern tv. Natural history documentaries are his speciality, having previously worked on Frozen Planet, Planet Earth 1 & 2 and Seven Worlds One Planet. Chadden has gained some invaluable life experiences during filming, after having survived brain-parasites there is little he hasn’t experienced. He has filmed awe-inspiring sights worldwide, from snow leopards to indigenous tribes Chadden has seen it all.
Chadden developed a keen interest in natural history after studying marine biology and conservation for the Great Barrier Reef. He later went on to complete a PhD in the subject, dedicating his studies to gelada baboons in Ethiopia. It was after this that Chadden began his film work, working for organisations such as the Discovery Channel and National Geographic. It wasn’t long before Chadden established a budding association with David Attenborough, which would later land him directing and filming roles on esteemed documentaries.
Chadden’s first documentary that he worked on was The Life Of Mammals. This was then followed by Planet Earth, during which he rose to fame when he became widely known as the ‘guy covered in bat poop’. Afterwards, Chadden worked on Natural World before producing and directing Frozen Planet. At one point during filming Frozen Planet Chadden’s eyes froze shut, without a doubt an experience he will never forget. Frozen Planet was followed by work on Wild Arabia and the second series of Planet Earth - Planet Earth II. As well as filming and producing on land, Chadden has also devoted a great deal of his time to underwater productions. He frequently acts as a divemaster, filming with a number of underwater dive crews. Tackling plastic in the oceans is also a keen interest of Chaddens, having worked with a number of marine biologists to face the problem.
With such diverse experiences worldwide, Chadden is able to provide audiences with a number of inspiring and engaging stories. Supplying a series of stunning images and never seen before footage, Chadden imparts his wisdom of just how fragile the world is and that we need to adapt to ensure the longevity of our world. He is able to explain how cutting-edge technology is used to produce natural history documentaries, how calculated risks are put in place and the careful planning that is required for those risks to be worth it.
