
Bronwen Maddox is the Director and Chief Executive of The Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) and an award-winning journalist and editor who is a frequent contributor to Financial Times. She is also devoted to educating the next generation as a visiting professor at King’s College London, as well as delivering informative public talks on topics such as geopolitics and international affairs.
Bronwen first started her career as an investment analyst, before joining Kleinwort Benson as the Director and Head of Investment Team in 1986. She made her move into journalism in 1991, becoming an Editor Writer and Investigative Reporter for Financial Times, and then Chief Foreign Commentator, Foreign Editor and US Editor at The Times five years later. During her career, Bronwen has interviewed everyone from George W Bush to Tony Blair to Vladimir Putin, and her vast experience has positioned her perfectly to analyse political, financial, and economical events on a global basis.
Furthermore, Bronwen has been a Governor at Ditchley Foundation for over two decades, which promotes the understanding of Anglo-American relations through annual conferences, and she published her book, In Defense of America in 2008. From there, 2010 saw Bronwen take on the roles of Non-Executive Director at Imperial War Museum and Chatham House, as well as Editor and Chief Executive at Prospect Publishing. In 2016, she became Director at Institute for Government, Non-Executive Board Member at Law Commission of England & Wales, and began contributing her writings to Financial Times.
Among Bronwen’s previous speaking engagements was her speech at Mayflower 400 Speaker Series in 2019, where she discussed Britain and America in relation to their trade agreement and how that agreement has affected the countries.
