Anthony Bennett is an incredibly inspirational individual who was on the brink of death and lived to tell the tale. After contracting a succession of viruses, Anthony was left fighting for his life but amazingly pulled through. Now sought as a motivational speaker for events, Anthony advocates the importance of healthcare and the amazing work that doctors and nurses perform along with topics such as dealing with setbacks, resilience, mental health and more.
Back in 2006, Anthony went on holiday to Disney Land Paris and on his return fell critically ill. With only a 10% chance of survival, it was revealed that Anthony had contracted Staphylococcus, Strep-Pneumonia and Influenza all at the same time. After investigation, it was concluded that the air conditioning of the coach that Anthony travelled on was the culprit for his illness and it had also affected 80% of the other students on the coach. After his white blood cells were reduced to 0, suffering from seizures whilst in a coma and having to be resuscitated 12 times, Anthony miraculously lived to tell the tale of his ordeal.
After surviving the debilitating illnesses, Anthony had to learn to walk, talk and breathe once more. His misfortune motivated him to share the importance of healthcare and the incredible work that nurses, doctors and health professionals perform. To do this, Anthony has since become a passionate charity supporter working with various health-related charities. One of his greatest achievements includes helping to secure a £7.5 million partnership that saw him travel the UK for 4 years to raise funds, partnering Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity with Whitbread Plc. Anthony’s work has had a substantial impact on the healthcare industry and meant that Great Ormond Street Hospital could help 20% more children after they built a new cardiac wing.
Today, Anthony is now regularly booked as a speaker for a range of corporate, public and educational events. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Anthony has enjoyed presenting a range of virtual events and webinars.
