Amit Katwala is an award-winning journalist, author and public speaker known for sharing insights into technology. A Features Editor in WIRED magazine, he covers topics from science and culture to how and where the two collide. Amit is the renowned author of three best-selling books, "Tremors in the Blood", "The Athletic Brain" and "Quantum Computing", in which he shares his knowledge of transformative technology and neuroscience. With an abundance of speaking experience across the globe, including speaking and moderating at SXSW Web Summit and CogX, Amit is a highly sought-after speaker.
Amit began his writing career in 2009 with a creative internship at the Bank Advisory Company. Transitioning to reporting in 2010, he began international property reporting at Overseas Property Professional, where he developed his journalism skills. Following this role, Amit had writing roles at Sport Magazine, The Times and Caspian Media. Within his freelance writing and editorial work, he further edited features for WIRED, The Times, The Guardian, The Telegraph and more. Amit joined WIRED in 2018 as a Contributing Editor, developing himself to serve as a Features Editor.
Aside from his writing, Amit was the former co-host of the BBC podcast and radio show, "All Consuming", where he discussed the science and history of consumer products. Additionally, he presented "Superhumans", a WIRED YouTube series about how the future of technology can develop human performance to the next level. Amit has the ability to make these complex topics accessible and understandable for all audiences. Speaking for shows including the BBC, CNN, Premier League World and The Game Podcast, to sharing information at schools, universities and conferences, Amit engages audiences from a range of industries and ages.
Amit's inspirational career has not gone without recognition, as he won his first award in 2012 as the Young Journalist of the Year from the GG3 Leadership Awards. In 2019, he won Editor of the Year from the Association of British Science Writers and the Memcom Awards. Most recently, his latest book "Tremors in the Blood" was nominated for the CWA Gold Dagger for Non-Fiction award.
