Amelia Womack

Amelia Womack is a passionate expert across the environmental and sustainability sectors, who has forged a successful career as the Deputy Leader of The Green Party of England and Wales, serving during some of the most turbulent years in politics. Throughout her career, Amelia has strived to deliver improvements in the sustainability and environmental sectors, through performing a variety of professional and voluntary duties. After completing studies in Environmental Biology at the University of Liverpool, Amelia was elected as the Ethical and Environmental Officer for the Guild of Students. During her time at the university, Amelia began her passionate advocacy for the environment, organising an array of events on climate change, fair trade and environmental issues, along with running a recycling campaign that won the NUS Bronze Sound Impact Award of 2007. In 2012, Amelia began studying for an MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London, graduating in 2013. In 2013, Amelia stood as an MEP Candidate and London European Campaign Organiser for The Green Party, before being elected as the Deputy Leader in 2014. At that point, Amelia was the youngest person in the leadership position in the UK at just 29 years old, going on to deliver historic results in the 2015, 2017 and 2019 General Elections through the strategic building of the Green Party. During her tenure with the Green Party, Amelia has overseen the quadrupling of the members of the party and the number of councilors elected - currently 558. Amelia has also chaired strategic working groups such as the Greens For A Better Europe and been a member of the executive team which included ring-fencing money for staff development initiatives.

Since 2014, Amelia has helped to lead The Green Party, working on the End Ecocide Campaign and securing changes in environmental law that would ensure protection from the long-term destruction of the planet and ecosystems. Highly passionate about sustainability, Amelia also has exceptional expertise in project and event management, having organised sustainability projects in Olympic legacy at the Olympic Park and London Live Sites. Amelia is also recognised for famously telling Piers Morgan that he 'got his knickers in a twist over a small sausage' during a debate on Good Morning Britain about his reaction to the Vegan Sausage Roll.
