Alicia Asín is an award-winning pioneer in tech, a sensational keynote speaker, and the co-founder and CEO of Libelium, the company behind ‘Waspmote’, an open-source sensor hardware platform for the Internet of Things (IoT). Alicia has been a leading figure in developing technologies that bridge the digital and physical worlds. She has been featured in Forbes' ‘100 Most Creative People in Business’ and has earned the reputation as one of the most influential leaders in global innovation and technology.
Achieving a Master's in Computer Engineering from the Universidad de Zaragoza, Alicia began her career in cybersecurity before co-founding Libelium in 2006. Excelling in her career, she served as a Member of the Innovation Advisory Board of Prosegur Security. She is currently a Member of the Council on Connected World for the World Economic Forum, an Advisory Board Member for the Fundación Gadea Ciencia, an Executive Committee Board Member for Future: Fast Forward, as well as an Advisory Board Member for the Fundación Instituto Hermes. Alicia is currently Vice President at AMETIC.
She was the first Spanish woman to receive the National Young Entrepreneurs Award in 2014. Her company was praised by The Financial Times after the Mobile World Congress, and in 2017, she was bestowed with the ‘Rey Jaime I’ Award by the King and Queen of Spain. Alicia came second in the 2018 European Commission's Women Innovators Award and has since been named one of the ‘Top 7 IoT Thought Leaders to Follow’ by AI Tech Park.
