A versatile expert, Abam is also an experienced employment lawyer and business consultant. After studies in Political Science, English and Law, Abam began her career as an Associate for Faegre & Benson LLP and Littler Mendelson. In 2011, she moved to join the Legal Counsel of GSK, beginning her expertise in employment law. Working her way through the ranks at GSK, Abam later went on to work in the Senior Legal Counsel, as the Director of Africa Ethics and Compliance, as the Head of Ethics and Compliance for the Intercontinental Region, on the Assistant General Counsel and the Investigations Counsel for GSK.
During her time at GSK, Abam was responsible for implementing risk management strategies and leading investigations across regions such as China, Japan and India. In 2020, Abam joined as the Asia Legal Regional Director of Workplace Investigations for Microsoft, before joining as the MD of BelongingIQ in 2021. To date, Abam has worked with hundreds of organisations, helping everything from c-suite executives to Fortune 500 companies develop their workforce. Abam is also now the host of the podcast MamaTokTok’s A Different Take and writes essays and poetry for a range of lifestyle and literary publications.
