William Tunstall-Pedoe

William Tunstall-Pedoe, CEO and Founder of Unlikely AI, has been at the forefront of a number of major technology developments in the last thirty years, including the development of Amazon’s Alexa. A serial business investor, inventor and technology guru, William has a reputation as a leading keynote speaker thanks to his impressive experience. As an expert in the field of artificial intelligence, William Tunstall-Pedoe has amassed over thirty years of experience in high tech businesses and startups, one of his most prominent is Evi. Founded in 2005, the tech start up was led by William as the CEO for over a decade and in that time it was acquired by retail giant Amazon due to its highly advanced AI. Credited with playing a pivotal role in the development of the AI software used to bring Amazon’s Alexa and Echo to fruition, William spearheaded the project that designed, built and launched the first ever widely used home AI experience.

Studying at the prestigious University of Cambridge, gave William the foundations in computer science that started his successful career. He also was an active member of the Young Entrepreneurs Society whilst at Cambridge, which instilled a passion in him from the outset to found his own businesses. Stepping on to the career ladder, William spent a year researching at the GEC Hirst Research Center into automatic Speech recognition, before completing a number of roles across the world in software engineering, where he honed his skills prior to founding Evi.

Currently, William dedicates his time to assisting with other AI startups and has invested in over seventy businesses of that variety. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Creative Destruction Lab in Canada and the UK, where he mentors technology based businesses into scalable companies. In 2019, he was elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.  Advising and educating comes naturally to William, and he is a revered speaker for this reason, as his keynote speeches offer tangible advice to their listeners.
