With over forty years retail and manufacturing experience, Touker Suleyman is a multi-million fashion retail entrepreneur and investor. Best known for founding British menswear brand, Hawes & Curtis and reinventing 90s womenswear label Ghost. Named by The Sunday Times as the 637th in their Rich List and estimating his fortune to be over £150 million.
Kickstarting his career in retail, at just the age of eighteen, with a joint venture in a leather factory. By 1984 Touker had acquired a small cash-and-carry business which then became Low Profile Group. Which is a clothing manufacturer that supplies UK retail stores, with factories based in Bulgaria, Georgia and Turkey.
2001 saw Low Profile Group gain Hawes & Curtis and with Touker’s expertise turnover rose from £600,000 in 2001 to an impressive £30 million by 2014. Touker completely turned Hawes & Curtis around and subsequently opened thirty branches in the UK and one in Cologne, Germany. With the success of this venture, 2008 saw Touker purchase UK fashion label Ghost because the owner had cut investment following the collapse of the Icelandic banking market. This deal saved one hundred and forty two jobs across the company and by 2009 the label was already announcing its first collaboration with design duo Modernist.
Touker is also a very keen investor and on the side of his fashion labels he’s invested in Intelligent Futures, an online advertising start-up; Docks Rio, a casual boat shoe brand; Personify XP, an AI personalisation start-up; Huxley & Cox, a manufacturer of luxury handbags; and Bikesoup, an online marketplace for bicycles.
