From accidental entrepreneur to one of the world’s most iconic designers and businessmen, Wayne Hemingway’s career is nothing short of remarkable. Making his name as the founder of Red or Dead fashion brand, Wayne has since showcased his expertise in retail and business management through various industry-leading positions. From the sale of Red or Dead to the development of HemmingwayDesign, Wayne has carved a defining career and now utilises such experiences to support others. As a speaker, Wayne empowers corporate clients with his passion for creativity, breaking the mould and the importance of innovation.
As the Co-Founder of Red or Dead, Wayne could never have predicted his need for cash as a young student would lead to a multi-million-pound business. After selling his clothes at Camden Market, London, for a bit of extra money, Wayne found instant interest, which turned into a permanent spot at the market and eventually, 16 stalls. Focusing on second-hand clothing and street style, Wayne soon opened a shop and the rest is history. Before selling the business in 1999, Wayne had won three British Fashion Council’s Street Style Awards, walked his lines in 21 consecutive catwalk seasons and established a long-standing partnership with Dr Martens stores. The brand remains a global household name thanks to Wayne’s visionary leadership.
With ethics at the heart of his business decisions, Wayne later founded HemingwayDesign which focuses on improving the things that matter in life. For Wayne, this has meant spearheading several successful building design ventures, from office space with The Institute of Directors to the award-winning Staiths South Bank 800 home development, HemingwayDesigns has had an undeniable influence on modern design. In recent years, Wayne has also been on the Design Council Trustee Board, been a House of Commons Advisor on coastal regeneration and is a Professor at Northumbria University.
As a keynote speaker, Wayne argues that creativity and innovation continue to provide excellent business opportunities in the ever-changing business climate. His extensive career supporting both public and private projects ensure he is equipped to advise all manner of businesses, and his achievements have even been recognised with an MBE from the Queen. Wayne’s strong ethics and inspirational way of thinking make him a truly fascinating retail and business speaker.

"Just finished listening to Wayne Hemingway MBE talk about buying quality clothing on the Jo Good show BBC Radio London. A breath of fresh air."- Vivienne Aiyela
“Wayne Hemingway MBE who I loved ever since I heard him say he never wanted to be 40+ and still wearing jeans, (he does do other stuff) was as entertaining and as political as I remember at the Grampian Awards for Business Excellence. HemingwayDesign is truly one of the best executed brands and series of concepts I have seen, simple, direct, clear. The KiosKiosK model is start up and innovation genius. If you get the chance get in a room with the guy and listen, you will without a doubt learn something or at least be energised to go off and think harder.” - Graeme Gordon CEO at IFB
