A key figure behind the success of London 2012, Linda Moir headed up the now famous customer services strategy – organising a 15,000 strong work-force to make the event run smoothly behind the scenes. In charge of workers and contractors from the private sector that made up, what is often referred to as the London 2012 dream team, Linda’s role ensured the operations side of the games was world-class and went without a hiccup. Before fronting the London 2012 Olympic Games customer experience, Linda was director of customer services at Virgin Atlantic. Sir Richard Branson set her the task of transforming people’s flying experience. In her time with the airline giant, she helped 5000 cabin crew to surpass targets and post the highest customer satisfaction scores in the company’s history.
She also oversaw a surge in the growth of the business, as Virgin Atlantic became an award-winning airline and ‘made flying fun’ which was a top-target for the director upon stepping into the role.
Prior to flying high at Virgin Atlantic, she rose from a HR role in Air Traffic Control to HR Director of National Air Traffic Services with British Airways. During this time, the company was undergoing a dramatic change from public to private ownership and her influence proved vital in the smooth transition.
Her impressive leadership skills were put to the test in 2012 when Linda developed an approach to turn the British service industry’s poor reputation on its head. Over a three year period, she integrated Games Makers (volunteers) to manage the Olympic journey and in doing so they had an iconic impact on the games.
