Often referred to as ‘The First Lady of Fleet Street’, Eve Pollard OBE is a former editor, journalist and author. Not only has Eve made a huge name for herself but she was one of the first female editor of a national newspaper in the UK. Through her immense experience and various achievements, Eve’s experience in publishing makes her the perfect keynote speaker for any function, conference or event.
From 1987 to 1991 she was the editor of The Sunday Mirror and from 1991 to 1994 The Sunday Express. By 1985 Eve was editing You Magazine for the Mail on Sunday and The Sunday Magazine for the News of the World, as well as being launch editor-in-chief of Elle Magazine in the US.
Eve’s talents also stretched to television when she became Features Editor of TV-am from 1982 to 1983 and created the series Frocks-on-the-box. The programme ran for two, thirteen-part series and was devised for the ITV contractor TVS during the 1980s. Eve has also featured as a guest panellist on the award-winning show, Loose Women, as well as being an active participant in Through the Keyhole.
Eve has played a significant role within journalism for the royal family and in 2011 she was ITV’s correspondent for the royal wedding of Catherine and William. Again in 2012, she was part of the ITV team covering the Diamond Jubilee and also the birth of the royal baby.
Eve has written many publications including her biography of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis entitled, Jackie. Eve has also jointly written four novels: Unfinished Business, Best of Enemies, Double Tree and Splash.
Eve spotted a gap in the market for stylish clothes for older women and subsequently took the situation into her own hands and recently launched her own designer range of dresses. In the Birthday Honours in 2008 Eve was awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire 2008 (OBE) and has been vice-chairman of the women’s health charity Wellbeing of Women since 2003. Eve has also been Chairman of the BBC Radio 4 panel named ‘The UK’s 100 Most Powerful Women’.
