Alex Zane


Known for his work as a stand-up comedian, Alex Zane is a popular TV presenter who specialises in film, music and popular culture. Currently working as the lead TV presenter on the Sky Movies series Alex Zane’s Guest List Zane has also worked in print journalism and is the lead film reviewer for The Sun newspaper. Alongside his work as a TV presenter, Alex Zane is also known for his prolific work as an events host and awards compere, his witty repartee and on trend knowledge of pop culture and the film and music scene making him a popular host for a variety of live and televised events and award ceremonies.

Beginning his career as a stand-up comedian aged just 18, Alex Zane gained notoriety after winning the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny open-mic contest; whilst undertaking a medical degree at University College London, Zane landed his first role as a television and radio presenter on the college’s own radio station Rare FM. From there Zane went on to work as a host and presenter for Wired FM and later the popular London alternative station, Xfm.

It was while working for Xfm that Alex Zane was spotted by producers from MTV who quickly signed him up to work as a TV presenter for their shows Screenplay and TRL. Alex Zane went on to work as a TV presenter for some of the biggest broadcasters in the UK including acting a lead host for Channel 4’s Popworld alongside female music television and radio presenter Alexa Chung. Whilst working for Channel 4, Zane also provided his voice talents for a number of pop culture, film and reality TV series including the E4 show Princess Nikki and Space Cadets and has appeared as a guest on a number of other Channel 4 series including 8 Out of 10 Cats and Balls of Steel.

Zane was chosen by Channel 4 to act as the leading event host for their coverage of the Digital Music Awards, V Festival, and the Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park. He presented Celebrity Scissorhands first on BBC Three, then on BBC One, as part of the BBC’s Children in Need charity campaign. Outside his work as a presenter and event host Alex Zane has written comedy material for The Eleven O’clock Show (Channel 4), Smack the Pony (Channel 4), Brain Candy (BBC Three), and The Sketch Show (ITV1). He also continues to work as a television and radio presenter for Xfm.
