Andy Turner

Record Breaking British Athlete

British Olympic speaker and medallist, Andy Turner is a hurdler and sometimes 200m sprinter who retired from sport at the end of 2014; now working as a dedicated sports speaker Turner recounts his successes to audiences at corporate functions and after dinner speaker events across the UK.

Born in Nottinghamshire, Andy Turner has represented Great Britain at no less than three Summer Olympics and is available as an Olympic speaker covering the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic games. He has also competed in the Commonwealth Games, including winning the 110 metre hurdle in the 2010 games in New Delhi.

In his capacity as a sports speaker, Turner reminiscences about the highlights of his career, discussing his victories over some of the most impressive athletes in the world and recounting the tension and trepidation he experienced in the lead up to some of his greatest achievements. Conversely Andy Turner also shares his experiences of defeats in his Olympic speaker presentations, his narrowly missed medal in the 2009 European Athletics Indoor Championship as well as crashing out of the heats for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games both forcing Turner to return to training and work even harder to achieve his goals.

His sports speaker presentations also include a number of brilliant and entertaining anecdotes about his time as a high profile sports personality; his work with coach and fellow Olympic speaker Lloyd Cowan and a number of media and dressing room gaffs all providing some light relief at all of Andy’s after dinner speaker appearances.

With personal bests of 10.32 in the 100 metres sprint and a record breaking 22.10 for the 200 metres hurdle on a straight Andy Turner is a determined and imposing sportsman, his work as an Olympic speaker is both entertaining and inspiring and suitable for a variety of corporate, sporting and private functions.
