A major world-title match emerged as the next step for the Ukrainian and he passed the test with flying colours to win the WBA title and beat British boxer, David Haye in 2011. Holding the record for longest cumulative title reign of any boxer in history with, 4,382 days as world champion and with 25 cumulative title wins, Klitschko was finally dethroned by Tyson Fury and has since fought Anthony Joshua in what many consider to be one of the greatest Heavyweight contests of all time! Recognised as the lineal champion by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, while the WBA recognised Wladimir as one of its Super Champions, a distinction given to boxers who hold that title in addition to those by other sanctioning bodies in the same division. The brother of Vitali, a former champion himself, such was the brilliance of the duo, the period of 2006 to 2015, is typically known as the Klitschko Era of the division citing the global domination.
