Yulia Marushevska

Yulia Marushevska is a prominent Ukrainian activist and keynote speaker, renowned for her unwavering commitment to justice, reform, and the welfare of her homeland. She first captured global attention as the face of the viral "I Am a Ukrainian" video, a heartfelt plea for freedom and democracy during Ukraine’s 2014 Euromaidan Revolution. This moment marked the beginning of her international recognition as a leading voice for Ukraine.

Yulia's career as a public servant has been instrumental in her rise as a thought leader and advocate. In 2015, she was appointed Deputy Governor of the Odesa Regional Administration by former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. Later that year, she was named Head of the Odesa Customs Office, a role that placed her at the forefront of combating corruption in one of Ukraine's most strategically vital ports. Despite her dedication, she resigned in 2016, citing a lack of high-level political support for the reforms necessary to overhaul entrenched corruption. Following her resignation, Yulia pursued academic excellence, earning a Global Executive MPA from New York University and University College London. Her passion for transparency and accountability led her to co-chair The Independent Defense Anti-Corruption Committee (NAKO), where she fought to eradicate corruption within Ukraine's defence sector.

Since the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Yulia has shifted her focus entirely to humanitarian aid and advocacy. She has suspended her strategic consultancy projects to dedicate her efforts to supporting the Ukrainian Army and aiding those affected by the conflict. Her work now centres on raising awareness of Ukraine’s struggle, fostering international support, and coordinating aid efforts. Yulia Marushevska has delivered impactful keynote speeches across the globe, highlighting Ukraine's fight for freedom and democracy. In 2014 she addressed an audience at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, thanking the international community and expressing solidarity with the Russian people's fight for freedom. She has also participated in a panel at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy and spoken at prestigious venues like Georgetown University, Stanford University, and Harvard University, sharing insights on Ukraine's struggle and the power of social media in mobilisation. Yulia also addressed audiences at the Oslo Freedom Forum and rallies in Canada, inspiring global support for Ukraine.
