Yomi Adegoke is a multi-award winning journalist who has authored several columns for top publications and co-authored fantastic books. Covering prominent subjects of race and feminism, Yomi has been recognised with several awards and has become a popular choice as a speaker for events. Previously, Yomi has spoken at a variety of literary events including engagements for The British Library, Intelligence Squared and Guardian Fresh Voices.
Best known for her talents as a journalist, author and producer, Yomi is currently a columnist for the Guardian and an author with HarperCollins Publishers. Throughout her career, Yomi has worked with several established publishers and media outlets, including work as a journalist for ITN and a multimedia producer for Channel 4 News. She later went on to achieve a Bachelor of Laws from Warwick University, but instead rejoined the world of journalism as a writer and content producer for Studentbeans.com. This role followed with several more internships for The Croyden Guardian, Guardian News & Media and The Telegraph. Building her knowledge in the field of journalism, Yomi then went on to work on the SEO and Lifestyle Desks of the Telegraph Media Group, before she accepted her role as a Journalist at ITN.
Outside of writing, Yomi has also established a reputation for presenting. She has been the presenter of Where are the Black Women in Grime? and been a regular talking head for BBC’s Woman’s Hour, ITV News and BBC Radio 4. Yomi has also contributed articles to the likes of The Washington Post, Vice and Elle and has also written a monthly column for British Vogue. Her talents as an author and journalist have not gone unnoticed, claiming the Marie Claire Future Shaper Award, Groucho Maverick Award and recognised as Journalist of the Year at the Women in Africa Awards. Also a passionate philanthropist, Yomi is a Trustee for the Arts Emergency and an Ambassador for the Eve Appeal. Yomi has also launched the Slay In Your Lane podcast, joined by Elizabeth Uviebinené to discuss pop culture topics from the perspective of a black British woman.
