Wayne Perrey, also known as The TV Carpenter, is a television presenter and podcaster. Known as the “new face of DIY”, Wayne has dedicated his career to sharing his passion and expertise for DIY to inspire and educate people to take on their own home and garden projects. Having presented some of TV’s biggest home and garden shows, Wayne is now hired as a speaker where he has been known to touch on topics including men’s mental health and domestic abuse survivors.
Wayne trained at the Arts Educational School, and began his career working in television and as a leading performer on the West End stage. Then, Wayne traded the world of showbiz for the world of sawdust and power tools and launched his career as The TV Carpenter. Over the course of his career, Wayne has worked on some of TV’s most popular interior design and gardening shows including “The Great Interior Design Challenge,” “Interior Design Masters,” “Love Your Garden” and “Garden Rescue”. The founder of the Man Cave Creations company, Wayne makes bespoke designs for the home and garden. He also helped design and build the set for the E4 show “Tattoo Fixers” and worked as a task carpenter on “Celebrity Big Brother”.
With a passion for sharing his expertise and teaching people DIY, Wayne teamed up with Steph Bron to become “The DIY Doers”, together they’ve written e-books and created online courses to encourage people to learn DIY skills. Wayne also currently writes a weekly column in The Sunday Times Home Magazine where he shares some of his tips, tricks and ideas to empower readers to tackle their own DIY projects.
