Tim Spector is a leading figure in the healthcare industry, possessing detailed knowledge of health, nutrition and epidemiology. Trained in medicine, Tim has committed his career to the study of genetic epidemiology and the genetic factors in health and disease. Currently, he is working as a Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College London, pioneering research into twin studies, epigenetics, genetics and microbiomes. Now booked as a speaker for a range of corporate and industry events, don’t miss out on an informative speech on science, health and wellbeing from Tim Spector.
Initially training in medicine, and becoming a consultant rheumatologist, Tim made the decision to focus his interests on the study of genetic factors in health and disease as an epidemiologist in 1992. Building his expertise in epidemiology, Tim has since become the Director of the TwinsUK Registry at King’s College London, a role in which he has worked to enrol 15,000 sets of identical twins to learn about the heritability of diseases and disorders. Understanding nature versus nurture, Tim has made revolutionary discoveries in epidemiology and published the book Identically Different: Why You Can Change Your Genes.
In 2017, Tim joined forces with Jonathan Wolf and George Hadjigeorgiou as the Co-Founder of ZOE, a data science company that provides a home kit for personalised nutrition. To compliment his expertise in nutrition, Tim has also authored the books The Diet Myth: The Real Science Behind What We Eat and Spoon-Fed: Why Almost Everything We’ve Been Told About Food Is Wrong. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Tim worked with TwinsUK to begin a genetic investigation of COVID-19 symptoms – co-founding the ZOE Covid Study. By July 2020, the app had over four million users and received funding from the Department of Health and Social Care, and Tim became the public face of the study releasing summaries via YouTube. In 2023, Steven Bartlett sought Tim to appear on the Diary of a CEO Podcast, where he shared his expertise on The Shocking Truth About Weight Loss, Calories & Diets. Given the success of his previous books on health and wellbeing, Tim is releasing another book in 2024, titled The Food for Life Cookbook: 100+ Recipes Created with ZOE.
In 2020, Tim was appointed OBE for his Services to the COVID-19 response, further solidifying his authority in healthcare and science. With such credibility and expertise, Tim is now a popular speaker for a range of corporate and healthcare speaking engagements, sharing his detailed knowledge of epidemiology and nutrition. Explaining the science behind health and disease, Tim’s speeches are nothing short of incredible, having formerly spoken for WIRED Health, The Royal Institution and the Centre for Personalised Medicine Oxford. Having also been a Senior Investigator for the National Institute for Health Research, Tim is considered an industry-leading authority. Don’t hesitate to book Tim Spector when looking for an expert speech on science, health or nutrition today.
