Winner of the 2005 Master Chef, Thomasina Miers is the Co-Founder of Wahaca, she is also the author of seven cookery books and a regular face presenting across the TV.
It took some time before Miers' decided to follow her passion for cooking and initially started career in journalism, VAT consultancy, advertising and digital consultancy before eventually attending Ballymore Cookery School.
Meirs' first big career move within the food industry was the opening of a cocktail bar in Mexico which set her on a spiral of travelling around Mexico to educate herself on the culture and food. After successfully winning Master Chef in 2005 Miers met her soon to be business partner and they opened Wahaca, a restaurant perfectly inspired by her time in Mexico. There aim was to create an innovative, fun and sustainable business.
A regular TV presenter for Channel 4 and Channel 5, Miers is also a successful writer who appears across many publications from the Times and Country Life to becoming a regular in the Saturday Guardian magazine where she weekly writes a column called Weekend Cook.
Miers' has a wealth of speaking experience on a range of different topics. Recently she shared her passionate and inspirational talks for Marks & Spencers, PWC, Intuit QuickBooks and The University Caterers. As a keynote speaker she explores with the audience her personal story inclusive of the challenges and lessons she's learnt on the way. From cookery to business, Miers' is passionate about talking about sustainability in business and effective compassionate leadership. Having grown Wahaca from just one business into twenty seven chains she has gained a huge amount of experience in the business world.
