London born actress Thanyia is also an established comedian, writer and presenter who won the coveted Funny Women Award in 2017. Beating the likes of Sarah Millican, Katherine Ryan, Suzi Bennett, Desiree Birch, Miss London Hughes and Andi Osho and in total 400 women in over 60 heats. Mastering and perfecting her comedic act since 2012, Thanyia is often described as one of the hardest working comedians in the circuit. Impressively she has become one of the only females in the UK to work both the Black comedy and mainstream scenes at the same time. Her position in comedy was cemented when she reached the 2018 semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Award.
Sharing her talent worldwide, Thanyia has performed across the UK, Turkey, The USA, Spain, Holland, Sweden and Slovenia. A keen advocate for empowering women, her writing can also be spotted in the Modern Women magazine. Thanyia was invited to speak at the Women in leadership summits for the National Literacy Trust and the Prestigious Brunel Univerity, additionally, she has also hosted an Alt W event. An extremely versatile individual, Thanyia boasts a degree in Performing Arts, Dance and Drama which has seen her vact in the Duchess on Netflix and the Bafta-winning Jamie Johnson on CBBC.
