Sweet Female Attitude is a Manchester electronic music act best known for their platinum-selling hit 'Flowers', one of the defining tracks of the UK garage era. Their timeless sound, combining soulful vocals with infectious dance production, continues to resonate with audiences decades after its original release. Achieving mainstream success with 'Flowers' that became one of the UK's biggest-selling songs of its year, the group have remained synonymous with an era of British dance music that fills clubs, festivals and live events today. Their enduring popularity, nostalgic appeal and instantly recognisable catalogue make Sweet Female Attitude a sought-after live act for festivals, corporate events and nostalgic music celebrations.
Sweet Female Attitude's story began in Manchester in 1996 when music manager Mike Powell, artist and DJ Shine MC, and singer Leanne Brown started writing music together. The original line-up featured Leanne alongside Sarah Bridgewood and Charlene Morrison before the group evolved over the following years. After rebranding as Trinity Way with Shine MC, they secured their first recording deal, with their signing documented by MTV during Manchester's In The City music event. Following Shine MC's decision to concentrate on songwriting, Leanne and Sarah adopted the name Sweet Female Attitude. When Sarah later departed, Leanne auditioned new singers before selecting Catherine Cassidy, with whom she recorded the group's debut album, In Person.
The group's defining breakthrough came with the release of Flowers, which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart and became the 37th biggest-selling single in the UK that year. Released across Europe by Warner Music Germany, the track sold more than 200,000 copies internationally and established Sweet Female Attitude as one of the standout acts of the UK garage movement. Their success led to UK and European club tours, television appearances on Top of the Pops, MTV and T4, performances for BBC Radio 1's One Big Sunday, and extensive radio interviews. The group's achievements were further recognised with a nomination for a Brit Award, cementing Flowers as one of the most enduring dance anthems of its generation.
Today, Sweet Female Attitude continues to captivate audiences by delivering nostalgic performances that celebrate one of British dance music's most iconic periods. Their live shows combine the unmistakable vocals and energy that made Flowers a nationwide phenomenon with a feel-good atmosphere that connects with audiences of all ages. Whether appearing at festivals, club nights, private celebrations or corporate events, they bring authenticity, proven chart success and an instantly recognisable repertoire that guarantees an unforgettable performance.
