Following the decision to give up her career as a corporate lawyer, Susan Calman became a household comedy name in 2006. In her first year as a comedian, she reached the finals of three prestigious competitions; the BBC New Comedy Awards, BBC’s So You Think You’re Funny and 2006’s Funny Women Competition.
Susan has appeared regularly on television ever since. After the comedy sketch show Ugly Kid, which she appeared in, received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival, it was commissioned by Channel 4 as a pilot and she was cast once again. She has also held roles in BBC Three’s How Not to Life Your life and Dead Boss and Channel 4’s Fresh Meat. A comedy panel show regular, Susan has made appearances on QI, Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Dara O’Briain’s School of Hard Sums.
Susan is also regularly heard on the radio, with the second series of her sitcom Sisters airing on BBC Radio 4. Her first book Cheer Up Love was a 2016 Audible bestseller and her UK tour The Calman Before the Storm has sold out around the country.
