Best known for her role as Marlene Boyce on both Only Fools and Horses and the spin-off The Green Green Grass Sue Holderness is a well-known actress. Sue trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama before she joined the Manchester Theatre Company and starred on stage in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peer Gynt and Catch My Soul. The actress has also been a regular on The West End in plays including Our Kid, The Male of the Species, The Female Odd Couple and Why Not Stay for Breakfast.
On the screen, she started out in Lollipop before appearing on Tightrope and Fly Into danger. She also played Shirley in That’ll Be The Day in 1973. Her acting career went from strength to strength, and she appeared in End of Part One, It Could Happen To You, The Brief and The Sandbaggers. In 1985 she was cast as Marlene Boyce in Only Fools and Horses, which made her a favourite of the British public over the next 18 years. She continued to work in other roles alongside Only Fools and Horses including appearances on Heartbeat and Dear John. Two years after Only Fools and Horses ended, she played Marlene in The Green Green Grass, a spin-off top the original show. More recently Sue has appeared on Doctors, Casualty and Holby City. The actress also played Estelle Jones on East Enders and Mrs Rossi on Still Open All Hours.
