A highly successful comedian, Dave is best known for starring in Phoenix Nights and being the presenter of Bulls Eye and Chain Letters. He is also known for being one half of the comedy duo Spikey and Sykey and was the former winner of Stairway to the Stars, a talent competition. Having made audiences laugh for decades, Dave has also been voted as one of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups and authored his own book He Took My Kidney, Then Broke My Heart. Dave has also been a team captain on the comedy panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats.
Before finding the heights of fame with comedy and television, Dave worked as a biomedical scientist at Bolton General Hospital. During his time at the hospital, Dave found his love for performing and acted in several pantomimes, also beginning his career as a part-time comedian. As his reputation on the comedy circuit began to grow, Dave joined forces with Rick Sykes and the comedy duo Spikey and Sykey was born. From that point on, Dave has enjoyed a successful career as a comedian and has released the tour DVD’s titled the Overnight Success Tour, The Best Medicine Tour and Living the Dream.
Throughout his comedy career, Dave has been the recipient of several awards. He has claimed recognition as one of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups by Channel 4 and was voted the Best Comedy Performance at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2003. He has also been named the Best Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards and recognised as the Best Up and Coming Comedian by the Manchester Evening News. Dave is also widely known for starring in Finding Fatimah, writing Dead Man Weds for ITV and having his projects Magnolia and Footballers Lives commissioned by the BBC.
