Stu Hirst

Stu Hirst is a leading expert on cyber security, cloud security and information security, who is currently working as the Chief Information Security Officer of Trustpilot. Finalist of the Cyber Evangelist of the Year 2016 and 2017 at the Scottish Cyber Awards, Stu has marked his prominence as an information security expert working with businesses such as Capital One, Trainline, Skyscanner and Photobox. Back in 1998, Stu began his career as a Mainframe Analyst and Programmer for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, sharing his time with being a worldwide DJ, producer, engineer and radio host under his own brand Stu Hirst Music. In 2011, Stu joined Trainline, working as a PCI Compliance and Security/ Technical Analyst. After two years with Trainline, Stu moved on to become the Information Technology Security Manager for Skyscanner, a role in which he built and scaled the security functions of the renowned travel business. From world-class email protection to the management of 3rd party software, Stu ensured that Skyscanner customers’ information was as protected as possible.

In 2017, Stu moved on to become the Head of Security Systems & Infrastructure Operations for Capital One, acting as a member of the Cyber Leadership Team and heading the security operations function for the leading credit card company. Stu also shared his expertise on information security as the Head of Cloud Security for Photobox, leading cloud security across five major brands – Photobox, Moonpig, Poster XXL, Hofmann and Greetz. During his time at Photobox, Stu also shared his time with co-founding Cyber Scotland Connect, igniting a passionate Scottish community on cyber and information security. Having also been the Principal Cloud Security Engineer and Interim Director of InfoSec for Just Eat and a Member of the Board of Advisors for Nova Finance, Stu was appointed as the CISO of Trustpilot in 2021.

A revered expert on information and cyber security, Stu has been a finalist for the Outstanding Contribution award from SC Magazine, the Security Team of the Year 2017 from SC Magazine and the Cybersecurity Team of the Year EMEA 2017 at the Cyber Excellence Awards.
