Steve Perryman has left an indelible mark in the world of football, owing to long and illustrious career. Playing for Tottenham Hotspur for 17 years, he is the longest serving player for Tottenham Hotspur in history. Now a podcaster too, Steve is available to speak at events, speaking candidly about his football career and his passion for the sport.
Joining Tottenham Hotspur as an apprentice way back in 1967, his contributions to the team and its glory are commendable. Making 866 first-team appearances in a myriad of competitive games, Steve has played a key role in the team when they secured the UEFA Cup on two separate occasions. He did the same when it came to the League Cup and his captaincy helped Tottenham win two consecutive FA Cups – an incredible feat. Steve’s recognition as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year in 1982 was expected and celebrated.
After his stint with Tottenham Hotspurs, Steve played for Oxford United before he became a player-manager for Brentford. Retiring his playing career in 1990 did not mean that Steve was going to step away from the game entirely. He transitioned into coaching and managed clubs all over the world. He served as a Manager to several clubs including Watford, Start in Norway, and Shimizu S-Pulse and Kashiwa Reysol in Japan. He was named Manager of the Year in 1999.
Steve returned to the UK and served as the Director of Football for Exeter City till 2018, after which he retired. Author of “81: The Inside Story of Our Iconic FA Cup Victory”, he has also written “Steve Perryman: A Spur Forever”. Today, he hosts the Steve Perryman Podcast, through which he gives a player’s perspective on key games. Appointed MBE in 1984 for his services to football, Steve Perryman is one of the most revered players in the country. He is now available to share his life story when booked to speak at a myriad of events. Book Steve Perryman today!
