Stacey Heale

Stacey Heale is an influential writer, campaigner and curator who is outspoken on the topics of loss and grief. Promoting and inspiring honest discussions on the lived experience of caring, loss, grief, and beyond, Stacey speaks candidly on those topics based on her personal experiences. In 2018 she gave a highly impactful TEDx talk, The Transformative Power of Social Media, where she highlighted the lesser-known positive impacts of social media as a channel to support people undergoing traumatic experiences. As such, she is an eloquent speaker who delivers profound speeches on topics, including sex drive, money, anticipatory grief, the politics of cancer, widowhood and how children grieve.

Leaving her career as a fashion academic to care for her husband, the infamous lead singer for the Delays, Greg Gilbert, who was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer, Stacey underwent a highly traumatic experience. Her husband sadly passed away in 2021 and she was in desperate need of an honest outlet for grief. Struggling to find anything candid enough, Stacey was inspired to use her newspaper column, Postcards From the Storm and blog, Beneath The Weather, as platforms to share her insights into loss in an open, outspoken, and honest manner.

Moreover, Stacey enjoys a growing number of followers on her Instagram page, where she makes regular posts about grief, loss and how to rebuild a life in hard times. In 2019 she curated the exhibition, Everything is Now, which is based on post-traumatic growth and the influence of art on overcoming grief. Furthermore, she is the host of the Silver Boots Supper Club. Stacey is also a major campaigner for Bowel Cancer UK and CRUK, where she disseminates valuable information on options for those diagnosed with IV cancer.

Recently, Stacey made an appearance on the But Why? podcast with Clemmie Telford, delving into the topics of grief, cancer and how to live. A foremost expert on grief and loss, who is open, honest, and candid, Stacey pushes the boundaries with her willingness to speak on all topics regardless of how challenging they are.
