Spencer Wilton

Spencer Wilton is a British dressage rider who is best known for representing Team GB at the 2016 Rio Games. Born in 1973, Spencer Wilton was raised in Suffolk and from a young age showed tremendous passion and interest in horses. Following education, Wilton went on to become a working pupil for Ruth McMullen, Lucinda Green and Mark Todd where he would hone his skills and gain greater knowledge and understanding for the art. Preferring a different code with Equestrian, Spencer Wilton transitioned into Dressage where he instantly made an impact. Winning his first Dressage National title in 1999, Wilton showcased his potential that promised a bright future within the sport. Making his International debut in 2006, to this day the accomplished rider and speaker, Spencer Wilton has won a notable and impressive thirteen National titles.

Coupled a horse to match his prowess, Spencer and his mount, Super Nova II embarked upon a fruitful journey as the duo achieved impressive results during the 2016 season which notably included top ten finishes in Roosendaal, first placings in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special classes in Lier, however, the duos greatest test and accomplishment were yet to come. Spencer Wilton and his mount, Super Nova II were selected to represent Great Britain at the incredibly prestigious 2016 Summer Olympic Games, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where alongside his teammates, Carl Hester, Fiona Bigwood and Charlotte Dujardin, the GB squad made the nation extremely proud as they brought home the Team Silver Medal; an astonishing achievement and a dream realised for Spencer and the talented Super Nova.
