Simone Giertz

Simone Giertz is an avid Swedish inventor, particularly enthusiastic about the possibilities of robots in day to day life. Also a professional YouTuber and a TV host, Simone has entertained hundreds with her impractical and comical inventions. Now booked as a speaker for a range of corporate and public events, Simone is sought to speak on why you should make useless things, robots and her battle with a brain tumour.

Having invented something for everything from brushing your teeth to applying lipstick, Simone is best known as ‘The Queen of Shitty Robots’ and her YouTube channel on which she demonstrates these inventions working in day to day life. Although her inventions may fall short of actually being practical, Simone is on a mission to promote the possibilities of robots and show that there are unlimited solutions for robots to automate certain tasks.

Before becoming an inventor and professional YouTuber, Simone studied in engineering physics. However, after dropping out of her studies, Simone began to invent ‘useless’ inventions and also studied at Hyper Island in Stockholm. Hyper Island is a leading digital creative business school, where Simone was able to train using specialised digital technologies. First beginning to invent in 2013, Simone began her career as an inventor with a toothbrush hat. Simone has also formerly been an MMA Sports Journalist and an Editor of Sweden.se.

Since her first invention, Simone has continued to develop several others to demonstrate the possibilities of robots and technology. She has since invented an alarm clock which slaps the user awake with a rubber arm, a shampooing device and a lipstick applicator. She has also joined Tested.com, where she collaborated with Adam Savage to create the Popcorn Feeding Helmet. Simone also made headlines after she created a video for her YouTube converting a Tesla Model 3 into a functioning pick up truck, something that saw her be invited to the unveiling of the Tesla Cybertruck. Simone has also been sought as a voice actor, having voiced the character CGO in Adventure Time: Distant Lands. She has also hosted Manick with Nisse Hallberg and appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The invention of her ‘useless’ robots has seen Simone rise to the top of her industry and is now a popular choice as a speaker for corporate and public events. Previously Simone has been invited to speak at TED 2018, delivering the speech Why You Should Make Useless Things.
