With a long background in sports, Simon played as a scrum-half for his university rugby club. He studied Natural Sciences at Durham University before becoming a grain trader for a firm in Lincolnshire. After completing work experience with Sky along with Durham alumnus, Mark Durden-Smith, Lazenby was taken on as a runner. Starting from making teas and coffees for the rest of the team to becoming an international face of television, Simon has the key for going from good to great.
By 2002, Lazenby was presenting for Sky Sports. He became a presenter of the Rugby Union coverage facing 10 Heineken Cup Finals and also covered a total of three British and Irish Lions tours. He amassed a total of nine years working as the lead presenter for the BAFTA-winning rugby segments of the show and has also gone onto face a whole variety of sports coverage including cricket, golf, tennis poker and of course, The F1. Simon presents weekly alongside Martin Brundle and Damon Hill to report on the activities at the Grand Prix. Simon’s exciting and accurate contributions has meant the show has twice won the International Broadcaster of the Year since he joined the crew.
