Multi-award-winning LGBT+ advocate, Shaun Dellenty is transforming perceptions in educational facilities and corporate environments through his proven methods. Having been discriminated against in his own career and subjected to homophobia, Shaun has become an established voice against such cruelty and actively works with clients to promote an inclusive culture. As a seasoned speaker, Shaun has experience working with a range of audiences and tailors his presentations to each event, ensuring maximum value for all involved. Driven by his desire to reduce judgement and improve education surrounding LGBT+ rights, Shaun has become one of the most sought-after speakers on the topic.
Best known for founding Inclusion for All, Shaun champions LGBT+ representation through his consultancy and speaking engagements. From America to Australia, Shaun has worked internationally with schools and businesses on key areas such as LGBT language, identity, and inclusivity. Determined to tackle diversity in younger audiences, Shaun has developed an award-winning strategy for schools and colleges which allows young people to understand the importance of LGBT acceptance and have their questions answered in a non-judgemental environment. Some of Shaun’s clients to date include HSBC, Stonewall and the House of Commons. He has also presented several TEDx talks, including ‘How I Survived Homophobic Bullying’, a testament to his prominence in the industry.
Growing up, Shaun endured years of bullying due to identifying as LGBT+, it became so relentless that he was driven to suicidal thoughts. Fast forward and he has been named in the Independent on Sunday’s Pink List of the 100 Most Influential LGBT People in the UK. The turning point came for Shaun during his teaching career after it was revealed that 75% of pupils were subjected to homophobic abuse or were hearing terms relating to sexuality in a derogatory way daily. Determined to take a stand, Shaun came out as gay to his school and embarked on a mission to educate audiences and promote inclusivity. In 2022, Shaun was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Education from the University of Derby, in recognition of his 13 years of global work as an LGBT+ advocate and was later named in The Diversity Power List at the 2022 Inclusive Awards.
Honoured in 2016 by David Cameron with the Points of Light Status and receiving the Education Champion Award at the National Diversity Awards further secured Shaun’s position as a respected authority in his field. His debut book ‘Celebrating Difference: A Whole School Approach to LGBT Inclusion’ was recommended in the UK Parliament for its insights and he has since gone on to give talks on the content of it. As a speaker, Shaun uses his personal story to inspire others to embrace differences, and provide essential strategies to audiences on being inclusive environments for LGBT+ people.
