Roney Lima do Nascimento is an expert in artificial intelligence and mathematics. As a teacher, developer and speaker, Roney helps improve AI literacy for teachers, encourages trust frameworks for AI adoption, and translates the mathematics of Machine Learning for a non-technical audience. With over 16 years in Python development, he is a leading authority in tech, learning, and innovation.
With a career built on teaching mathematics for over two decades, Roney has helped to facilitate the understanding of arithmetic to countless students across a multitude of environments, from middle school students and high schoolers to pre-university classes and undergraduates. In 2013, he served as a CAPES Research Fellow in collaboration with the University of Oxford, teaching probability through games. He continued as a professor of mathematics through institutions like Colegio Objetivo, Escola Internacional de Alphaville, and the Colegio Dante Alighieri, where he rose to the position of Guiding Professor of the Apprentice Scientist Program, guiding pre-scientific initiation research. He then took on roles at Cursinho Popular Clarice Lispector and Colégio Anglo Vargem Grande Paulista before taking on his current role of IBDP Higher Level Mathematics Teacher and KS3/IGCSE Educator at St. Paul’s School, São Paulo. Roney is also the AI Solution Developer for the whole of St. Paul’s School, as well as an independent AI and Data Solutions Consultant specialising in applied AI, machine learning systems, and data-driven solutions for organisations in education and business. Roney is currently pursuing a PhD in Pure Mathematics at the University of São Paulo and is the developer behind the AI Teachers Platform, which has over 15,000 monthly active educators.
As a result of his impressive career, Roney has several significant certifications such as a Google Generative AI Leader (which is valid to 2028), Applied Generative AI from John Hopkins, Mastering AI from Alura, AI in Education from UPenn/Wharton, Generative AI Primer with Vanderbilt, Introduction to Generative AI from MIT Professional Education, an MBA from IBMEC, and is a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert 2026. Roney has published two LoRA fine-tunings of Mistral-7B on HuggingFace for British English educational prompt optimisation, and has contributed to several literary works, including a featured article in the May 2026 print issue of educational leadership, ‘What I Learned from Training 50 Teachers in AI Literacy’, an approved chapter in ‘Global Digital Citizenship’, and is the author of the forthcoming book ‘Generative AI for Teachers’.
