Rola Hallam

Dr Rola Hallam is a leading medical professional, who currently works as a Consultant Anaesthetist for the NHS. Also a passionate humanitarian and human rights campaigner, Dr Rola is on a mission to provide healthcare to children in war-torn countries. Having helped to build seven hospitals in Syria and provided healthcare to over three million people, Dr Rola is widely considered an inspirational healthcare professional and is now booked as a speaker for events. Covering topics such as surviving in crisis, feminine leadership and lessons from the frontlines, book Dr Rola for an engaging speech on healthcare and human rights.

Completing a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery, Dr Rola has since forged a successful career in the medical profession. Today, she cares for patients as a Consultant Anaesthetist and is also the founder of CanDo, an organisation dedicated to providing essential services to war-devastated countries. Before founding her company, Rola also worked as a Registrar and Education Fellow at the University College London NHS Foundation Trust, building her expertise in global health.

A dedicated humanitarian and human rights activist, Dr Rola has worked with charities to provide aid to those in need. Back in 2015, Rola became the Medical Director of Hand in Hand for Syria, a charity dedicated to providing medical care and life-saving response to people in Syria, helping to rebuild their lives and futures. Outside of performing humanitarian aid and work in the medical profession, Rola has also appeared on TV, starring in Panorama documentaries such as Saving Syria’s Children. She has also written articles for The Huffington Post, The Lancet, The Independent and The Guardian, along with TV appearances on the BBC and The Daily Show.

With a successful and inspirational career to her name, Dr Rola is now also booked as a speaker for a range of corporate events to share her expertise as a doctor and her passion for humanitarian aid. Formerly, Dr Rola has been invited to deliver the TED talk The Doctors, Nurses and Aid Workers Rebuilding Syria and the Talks at Google talk Beacons of Light in the Darkness of War. She was also invited to speak at the Google Zeitgeists Minds event, acted as a guest lecturer at King’s College and was announced as a TED Fellow in 2018.
