Roger Martin is a leading management and design thinker, renowned for the business theories that he has helped to originate and develop. As the former Dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, Roger has aimed to educate a larger audience on the importance of this mindset throughout the business community and the benefits it will have for companies that implement this into their employees. When hired as a speaker for events, he aims to draw his expertise from his role as a strategic advisor to help corporations avoid complacency and retain their competitive edge whilst working within their industry.
Starting his professional career as a Strategy Consultant at Canada Consulting Group, Roger developed his understanding of the strategies that should be implemented within the workplace before securing a prestigious role as Director at Motor Company in 1986. Having gained over 12 years of industry experience working for the global consultancy firm, he was able to founder their Canadian office and Monitor University before being appointed as Dean of the Rotman School of Management in 1998. Passionate about being part of educating the younger generation, he spent 14 proud years at the University and stepped down from his position to take up a leadership position at the Martin Property Institute. This role allowed him to focus his research on the future of demographic capitalism.
As an expert within his field, Roger took the entrepreneurial leap in 2015 and became the Founder and President of Roger L. Martin, Inc. Aside from his business career, Roger is a proud author of nine business books. Having focused much of his recent work on integrative thinking, business design, and corporate responsibility, he has written six books and co-authored a further three to share this knowledge with a new audience. Roger's two main theories, integrative thinking and design thinking, are greatly respected throughout the industry and he aims to share the importance of these mindsets with corporate audiences and speaking engagements around the world.
Admired for his illustrious career, Roger was ranked number one in the ‘most influential management thinker in the world’ list by Thinkers50 in 2017 and two years later, he continued to rank highly in the list, finishing in second place overall. Also serving on several boards, including Thomson Reuters Corporation, the Skoll Foundation, and Tennis Canada, he aims to share his expertise with audiences at many different events. When looking to hire an experienced speaker who focuses on topics such as how strategy really works, how to think like a successful leader, and many more business topics, do not hesitate in hiring Roger Martin!
