Having spent part of her childhood growing up in California, Rachel spent the weekends skiing in Lake Tahoe with her family this is where her addiction to skiing started. At the age of 11 she moved back to the UK and spent most days daydreaming of the mountains, so as soon as she finished university at UWE, Bristol, she was on a plane to Whistler, Canada with only a dream… After years of training, working with coaches and skiing every day, Rachel finally found the courage to enter her first Freeride competition at Lake Louise in 2009, which is now known as the Freeride World Tour. Rachel placed 4th.
The following year, Rachel competed at the Freeskiing Canadian World Championships and placed 3rd. This podium finish changed everything and she was invited to the ‘Redbull Wrangle The Chute’ invite only competition where she placed 4th. At the event was the ‘who’s who’ in the ski industry, and Rachel became sponsored by Faction skis, Giro, Surefoot & Flylow Gear, enabling her to spend the next five years travelling around skiing and representing her sponsors. During Rachel’s time skiing, she studied alternative medicine focusing on allergies, immune systems, depression, stress & anxiety.
She went on to start her own wellness practice, Whistler Wellbeing, in 2010 and began working with some of the top professional, Olympic and up and coming athletes, helping them keep their physical body strong when pushing the limits and worked with them on their mental focus and wellbeing. Due to family circumstances, Rachel recently decided to pack up from Canada and move back to the UK to start Uthrive Ltd which focuses on employee wellbeing. She now runs workshops and courses on stress management and has a fantastic team she implements for long-term wellness solutions, such as personal traibners, nutritionists, physiotherapists.
