Phil Vickery MBE is a retired rugby union international who was a part of the famous England squad that won the 2003 Rugby World Cup. A former captain of his country, Vickery is an expert in leadership and can inspire a team or audience wherever he goes. A very passionate and loyal man, Vickery spent his domestic career playing for only two clubs. He started out at Gloucester Rugby in 1995 and soon earnt the nickname "The Raging Bull". He spent 11 years at Gloucester and played 145 times, scoring 20 points. After a long, successful stint at the West Country side, Vickery moved to London Wasps and would remain there until his retirement. He played 54 times for the club over a four year period.
Vickery will be most remembered for his exceptional performances internationally which saw him captain England on a number of occasions. His international career spanned over 12 years and he earnt himself an extremely impressive 73 appearances. Making his debut in an emphatic 60-26 win against Wales in 1998, Vickery tasted success right from the outset. Vickery played in all seven games of the 2003 World Cup and captained the nation in the match against Uruguay. His first international try for England came in their third match of the tournament against Samoa. As a rugby speaker, Vickery often reflects on the sporting success he enjoyed throughout his career, and in particular winning the World Cup.
He ended his rugby career as one of England's greatest ever props and is widely recognised as an incredible captain who showed extreme desire and dedication throughout his career.
Since retiring, Vickery has taken part in Celebrity MasterChef and won in the final. He was also a co-commentator on the 2011 World Cup and developed his commentary and presenting skills. The time spent as a co-commentator has had a positive impact on his speaking qualities, Vickery now possesses wonderful presenting skills as well as a world of knowledge.
