Patty McCord

Patty McCord is an innovative businesswoman and an engaging speaker who challenges audiences to question their practices and push boundaries. After spending many years working with different companies, Patty has witnessed employee burnout and the process of how companies can slow down. She uses her knowledge and influence during keynote speeches to motivate audiences to rethink the way they work and consider the idea of ‘best practices’.

In her early career, Patty worked in roles such as Corporate Employment Manager and Diversity Programs Manager as well as in HR. She then went on to work as a Chief Talent Officer for Netflix. It was within this time that Patty had the responsibility of fostering the unique corporate culture at Netflix. Patty spent 14 years innovating new ways to work, turning the Netflix culture deck into reality for employees. She notably eliminated performance reviews and questioned the necessity of traditional policies. Following this role, Patty established herself as a consultant and coach and became the Principal of the Patty McCord Consulting organisation. 

As a coach, Patty often works with companies within their businesses to create great leaders and great teams. She preaches radical honesty in the workplace whereby employees who no longer fit should be let go, and motivation should be encouraged by challenging work rather than perks and bonuses. Her abundance of advice and insights are noted in her book, ‘Powerful: Building a Culture of Freedom and Responsibility’.
