Nitin Sawhney’s name is resonant as a composer, producer and musician par excellence. Throughout his career, Nitin has created over 20 studio albums, 13 of which are credited to him. His vast body of work has led him to perform in some of the most sought-after stages by musicians, including the Hollywood Bowl, Sydney Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall.
During the course of his career, Nitin has worn several hats, as a renowned composer, producer, songwriter, DJ and multi-instrumentalist. Nitin has also worked as a broadcaster, hosting a BBC Radio 2 series for four years. He has scored over 60 films including Netflix’s Mowgli and TV shows such as BBC’s Human Planets and Channel 4’s Traitors. Nitin’s creation ‘Ghosts in the Ruins’ was performed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Coventry Cathedral, also being televised by BBC.
Having worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Sting, Jeff Beck and Bob Geldof to name a few, Nitin has also taken a strong interest in developing new talent. He is a patron, ambassador, advisor and former Chair for PRS Foundation – a leading charitable funder of new music and talent development. Appearing as an Expert on Guitar Star for Sky Arts, he is also a Member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and BAFTA.
Recipient of over 20 international awards including the 2017 Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award, Nitin was appointed CBE in the 2019 New Year Honours List. He has also received numerous honorary degrees from universities all over the UK and is a University Lecturer at Stanford and Berklee College of Music.
