Björn Ulvaeus is a Swedish singer, musician, songwriter and producer, famous for being a member of ABBA, the highly successful Swedish musical supergroup. As a member of one of the best-selling music acts in the history of pop music, Björn topped the charts worldwide with hit songs such as Waterloo, SOS, Lay All Your Love On Me and The Winner Takes It All. During the period in which ABBA was disbanded, Björn focused his interests on film and musical production. In 1983 ABBA disbanded, with Björn then working in partnership with Tim Rice and Benny Andersson to write the musical Chess, which opened on London’s West End and Broadway. Finding a passion for writing musicals, Björn later wrote the musical Kristina from Duvemåla, and then in 1999, he co-produced the musical Mamma Mia! In 2008, Björn co-produced the film Mamma Mia!, and in 2018 he Co-Produced Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the sequel to the highly successful motion picture film.
In 2021, ABBA announced that they would be releasing their first album in 40 years, along with a virtual stage show ‘Voyage’ – opening in a custom-built arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. Aside from his commitments to ABBA and musical writing, Björn also composed the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest anthem, was appointed the President of CISAC and has begun to invest in music catalogues as of 2022. During his illustrious music career, Björn was awarded The Special International Ivor Novello Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers & Authors, The Music Export Prize from the Swedish Ministry of Industry & Trade and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Swedish Music Publishers Association.
