Embarking on a career in journalism was no surprise for Miya after she studied English Literature and Language at the University of Oxford, one of the UK's most prestigious education facilities. Achieving her degree in 1999, Miya lept straight into the industry as a senior writer for The Creative Element, where she also gained her first experience of marketing in businesses to business projects as well as businesses to customers.

Leading the discussion for the challenges faced by retailers and the technological solutions available to address them has enabled Miya to be in high demand by companies wanting her industry insights. Between 2015 and 2018, Miya worked as the Global Technology Research Director for Planet Retail, where she led a team of analysts who were driving businesses development strategies.
