Michelle Li realised that despite the fact that climate change affects every human being, solutions for the problems were discussed and created only by governments, multi-billion dollar entities and selected scientists. Thus, she created an organisation dedicated to making carbon literacy accessible, hip and fun, and is the renowned Founder & CEO of Clever Carbon. Michelle’s thought leadership is revered around the world, and she has been invited to share her expertise on climate change, sustainability and women’s empowerment. The climate champion is now available to hire for a wide range of events related to sustainability, climate action, carbon literacy, and several other subjects.
Michelle studied from prominent institutions such as University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, and Hult International Business School. Beginning her career in Silicon Valley, Michelle’s resume includes roles such as Solutions Engineer at Salesforce and Enterprise Solutions Consultant at DocuSign. Currently, Michelle serves as the Founder, Executive Director & Board Member of Women & Climate NYC – a community for female and nonbinary professionals who wish to learn and discuss climate-related issues. Women & Climate host several virtual events throughout the year, where their members display their expertise on climate topics.
Founder of the Carbon Newbie Summit, Michelle has created a space for people to seek inspiration on reducing emissions. Through her endeavours, Michelle is encouraging people all over the world to take action and ultimately leave the planet in a better state than it is in now. A prolific speaker, Michelle delivered the TEDx talk “The Carbon Literacy Revolution” in 2021, that highlights her mission to make carbon literacy and sustainability education, hip, fun and relatable. It is Michelle’s hope that her work will inspire people to make informed decisions and hold large conglomerates responsible for their carbon footprint.
Michelle also holds positions such as Technical Committee Advisor for Oman Climate Week and Advisor the Blue Standard, empowering businesses to do their part in protecting our planet. A seasoned keynote speaker, moderator, MC and panellist, Michelle has been invited to speak at prominent stages such as the Bloomberg Live Sustainable Business Summit and SXSW. When hired as a speaker, she touches on a myriad of subjects like carbon dioxide removal, energy transition, climate action, green shipping, and even women’s empowerment in tech and other fields.
