Marvi Memon is a leading speaker on governance, legislative innovation and women’s empowerment. A former Federal Minister of Pakistan for Social Protection and Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme, she has built a rare 30 year portfolio career across corporate leadership, national politics and global development. Her most distinguished recognition is the UK House of Commons Speaker’s Democracy Award, presented for her contribution to strengthening democratic practice and public service.
Marvi’s early years were shaped by international mobility and academic ambition. Raised in Karachi, Paris and Kuwait, she went on to study at the London School of Economics, earning a BSc in International Relations in 1993. She later returned to Europe for an Executive Master’s in Advanced Global Studies from SciencesPo. Her early internships at DAWN and the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs gave her a first look into public life, while her first corporate steps at Citibank sharpened her skills in management and technology. One example illustrating her drive is her career leap to Trakker, where she became Pakistan’s youngest woman CEO of a multinational and introduced the country’s first SMS server and vehicle tracking technology.
Throughout her career, Marvi has delivered impact across multiple sectors. As a parliamentarian during two terms in the National Assembly, she authored the Acid and Burns Crime Legislation, which later became the basis of Pakistan’s first Oscar winning documentary. She also created the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services, a long lasting contribution to national governance. As Chairperson and Federal Minister of BISP, she led a social protection programme serving six million families and managing a $1.25 billion annual budget, overseeing national databases and championing the financial inclusion of women. Her global influence grew through advisory roles including the World Bank Gender Advisory Council and through her more recent leadership as Founder, President and CEO of LAWEP International Corporation, the world’s first legislative Generative AI organisation. She has spoken at major global forums from Davos to COP28.
People book Marvi for her breadth of experience and her ability to translate complex political, economic and social landscapes into clear guidance for organisations. She speaks on governance during crises, legislative processes, economic inclusion, corporate relevant policymaking and Generative AI’s role in global regulation. Her topics help leaders understand shifting geopolitics, prepare for electoral change, design inclusive strategies and navigate high risk environments. Marvi brings stories from parliament, the cabinet table and humanitarian crises to illustrate how strong governance can protect communities and support long term business stability.
